The Story of Informer Group

What if every company shared a little of its strength with those who need it most? The world would be a much better place. That is what Informer founders Remco Frühauf and Peter Potters have always believed.

March 1995
“While running my own administrative office, I realized there had to be an easier way for businesses to take control of their finances.”

He found a developer and the first Informer offline accounting solution was born. An early step, but a step big enough to help thousands of entrepreneurs in the Netherlands gain greater confidence in their bookkeeping.

Remco joined forces with experienced international B2B marketer Peter Potter

He found a developer and the first Informer offline accounting solution was born. An early step, but a step big enough to help thousands of entrepreneurs in the Netherlands gain greater confidence in their bookkeeping. Remco started giving away free bookkeeping programs. Peter offered free marketing classes. This joint initiative laid the groundwork for the purpose-driven approach that remains central to Informer Group’s DNA today.

Informer launched its first online bookkeeping software, breaking new ground in the Dutch business software market.

This development marked the beginning of a renewed mission: providing all PBO organizations (ANBIs) in the Netherlands with free bookkeeping software, enabling them to dedicate more time and resources to achieving their goals.

From 2017 onwards, ANBI foundations in The Netherlands were selected annually to receive an additional donation, further supporting them in their missions. This commitment continues to this day.

Groundbreaking innovation with Dutch tax authorities. First ever to launch online VAT returns.

As the market adapted to online accounting, there was only one piece missing: automated online VAT returns.

This innovation led to less erroneous VAT declarations and more importantly, confidence within business owners. The most feared task of self-bookkeeping had been transformed into an automated job.

International expansions with the same mission

Following success in The Netherlands, Informer started expanding throughout Europe. From Austria, to Germany and Belgium.

The mission remains the same. All business owners should be able to take control over their finances in an accessible way. And of course, PBOs in these countries are also provided with free software upon request.

Free courses for freelancers amidst COVID times

Running a business is never easy. COVID-19 complicated the lives of small business owners even further. That’s why Informer developed a free bookkeeping course in Dutch: Boekhouden voor Beginners (Bookkeeping for Dummies).

The course provided freelancers with more stability and confidence. Something they desperately needed in times of financial uncertainty.
